To the Campus Community,
This email is to notify you that we are again seeing an increase in COVID positive cases in our TCNJ community. This is the time of year when several important events are scheduled that can more safely occur when everyone practices preventive behavior. Please remember that Omicron spreads more easily than earlier COVID-19 variants. Regardless of how YOU feel about COVID-19, we all can agree that having COVID-19, regardless of its severity, is disruptive to normal life. Let’s all get through the semester, finals, and Commencement safely and with as little disruption as possible.
Please follow these key points:
It is strongly recommended that you wear a well-fitting mask (e.g., surgical mask, N95, KN95, or KF94) in crowded indoor places when physical distancing is not feasible. Masks are available on campus at various locations including the BSC Information Desk.
If you develop any symptoms of a respiratory illness (sore throat, runny nose, etc.), do not assume that it is seasonal allergies or a cold. Mask up around others and GET TESTED for COVID-19. To schedule an appointment at the Decker test site, go to https://www.navushealth.com/
partner-tcnj/. Off-campus testing can be found at https://my.castlighthealth. com/corona-virus-testing- sites/ and self-test kits are available at the Bookstore and local pharmacies. You can also order free tests to have when needed at https://www.covid.gov/tests.
If you have symptoms and test negative on a rapid COVID test, test again in 24-48 hours. Now that most of us have some immunity from vaccination and infection, it may take more days of symptoms for rapid tests to detect COVID-19. In the meantime, mask up.
If you test positive at an off-campus test site or at home, isolate yourself and REPORT IT right away by completing the Daily Self Checkup in the ROAR App. This will alert the COVID Outreach Team so that they can provide you with TCNJ isolation timeframes and identify people who were exposed to you in our campus community. Take a photo of your positive at-home test result before discarding the test card/cartridge.
Be sure that you are up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination (i.e., boosters). To locate a vaccine booster site near you please visit https://www.vaccines.gov/. Please upload your booster vaccination record to OWL (students) or to Oracle Cloud (employees) if you have not already done so.
Thank you for all the ways you support your health and that of your community.
